Down On the Farm
Guitars & Crafts
downonthefarmguitars.com
Down on the Farm Guitars & Crafts is a shop on the grounds of the beautiful White Fence Farm Restaurant and entertainment complex in Lakewood, Colorado, where the Wilson and Wuestner families have created a fun and interesting venue for family dining and entertainment.
We keep a select inventory of used and vintage acoustic guitars and associated accessories. It is our belief that providing excellent quality used guitars is a very high form of recycling! Woods used in the construction of quality guitars, when properly cared for, age well and actually sound better over time.
Closed the entire month of January and every Monday, White Fence Farm is the place to go for memorable family outings, excellent food and the friendliest service you'll find anywhere. We maintain the same retail operating hours as the restaurant and you'll find us open on Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. There is plenty of free parking surrounding the shop.
Come by and pull up a rocking chair on the front porch, have an Espresso or coffee, and enjoy the bluegrass and folk music that fill the air at our little shop! You are always welcome!
About Us
Alice's Grandparents
Down on the Farm Guitars & Crafts is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Reed and Alice Bennett. During twenty-five years of marriage, Reed and Alice have pursued many passions, but have consistently studied and collected guitars and stringed instruments and developed a great appreciation for handmade craft items and folk art. Having a small shop where these pursuits can be shared with like-minded folks is a natural and inevitable result of their hobbies.
Alice does not play guitar but has learned a great deal about them from having her home brimming with guitars year after year! She prefers to spend her time talking arts and crafts with those who share her love of sewing, quilting, knitting, needlepoint, and the creation of unique and beautiful crafts. Alice and her mother, Mrs. Betty Morrow, have made beautiful porcelain dolls and much-loved Father Christmas dolls. Alice's Grandmother, Mrs. Helen Grissum, kept her hands busy whenever she had spare time making potholders, baskets, lye soap, and other "old-time" crafts. Alice grew-up in a hardworking family and learned to be resourceful and to make things from local, available sources.
Guitars and Crafts.......not two items normally found in the same shop......but that seem to fit together wonderfully at Down on the Farm Guitars & Crafts.

No Guitarist Left Behind Program
OBJECTIVE
Down on the Farm Guitars & Crafts wants every child who is interested in learning to play the guitar to have access to a beginner level instrument. To that end, we have developed a program we are calling "No Guitarist Left Behind."
If a child's family is facing economic hardship and cannot afford to purchase a guitar, they may nominate their child to be the recipient of a free loaner guitar from Down on the Farm Guitars & Crafts.
Our goal is to make sure that any child in Lakewood who wants to try to learn to play the guitar gets the opportunity to do so. We feel that it is important to promote music for the children in our community and this program provides us with the chance to give back to the community that supports our business.
The program is being supported and assisted by our good friends at Colorado Guitar Company on Santa Fe Street in Littleton, who provide instruments and repairs to help keep the loaner guitars available.
NOMINATIONS
Any family may nominate their own child to be eligible for a guitar and any individual may make the request on behalf of a deserving child that lives in the Lakewood, Colorado area. Complete the Nomination Form (click on link on left) and submit to Down On The Farm Guitars & Crafts via mail or drop off on your next visit.
If a child is selected they will receive:
Should the child decide against continuing to study the guitar, the instrument must be returned to Down on the Farm Guitars & Crafts where it will be refurbished and readied to loan to another deserving child.
If all available instruments are out on loan, a waiting list will be maintained so that we may contact the family of the children whose names are on record.
DONATIONS
Anyone in possession of a guitar that may be cleaned-up and made into a good beginner's guitar may donate the guitar to our business to be used in this program.
We will also welcome any cash donations to our fund for the program that will help us pay for strings, books, and accessories.
We will greatly appreciate any help that anyone can give us so that "no guitarist is left behind"!
